View SAN health information

The SAN Health Report view and the Fabric Performance Impact Notifications (FPINs) view allow the user to determine the health of their storage network.

Prerequisites

See Roles and associated permissions to determine the user roles that can perform this task.

Steps

  1. Select a storage system running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079).
  2. Select the System Health tab.
  3. In the Actions panel, click View SAN Health.

    A screen is displayed with two tabs: SAN Health Report tab and FPINs tab (only available on storage systems running PowerMaxOS 10.1.0.0 or later). See View FPIN information for information about the FPINs tab. The following properties display in the SAN Health Report tab:

    • Initiator —Initiator ID
    • FCID—Fibre Channel ID for the initiator
    • Fabric WWN—Fabric WWN
    • HBA Negotiated Speed (Gb/Sec)—-Host bus adapter (HBA) negotiated speed
    • HBA BW Limit (Gb/Sec)—HBA bandwidth limit
    • Health Status—Health status indication, for example, a warning icon appears when port speeds of multiple director ports are greater than HBA negotiated speeds or when FPIN alerts are associated with one or more directors.
  4. Click Details icon to view additional properties.

    The following properties display for a selected masked director port:

    • Director Identification—Director ID
    • Director Port—Port associated with the director
    • Array Negotiated Speed (Gb/Sec)—Array negotiated speed
    • Director Port Speed (Gb/Sec)—Director port speed

    The following properties display for a selected storage group:

    • Director Identification—Director ID
    • Director Port—Port associated with the director
    • Array Negotiated Speed (Gb/Sec)—Array negotiated speed
    • Director Port Speed (Gb/Sec)—Director port speed
  5. You can filter the report by All Storage Groups or by All Director Ports
    For the storage group filtered report, only storage groups in a masking view are displayed. For the director port filtered report, only initiators and director ports that are in a masking view are displayed. The filters cannot be used together.
